Known as “The gateway to the west,” Kansas City conjures up images of barbecue, jazz, the American Royal, Chiefs football and of course, the Kansas City Royals, winners of the 2015 World Series. In the Lenexa, Kan., Farm Journal offices, co-workers taped oversized royal-blue “W”s to a wall every time the Royals knocked off an opponent last year – all the way to that final win. They’re hoping for a repeat this year, and they’ll be enjoying some great local fare along the way.
Here are great pork offerings featured at the Royals’ Kauffman Park to tease your taste buds:
– Pulled pork mac n’ jack sausage is a pepperjack link sausage topped with “everything” – pulled pork, cheesy macaroni, bacon crumbles and scallions. It’s served in a bun, which acts like a bowl.
– Farmland pork wings are one of the most popular items at Kauffman Park, for good reason. Farmland Food Inc., partnered with Boulevard to create custom bratwursts with Boulevard Wheat and Pale Ale beers. The pork wings are doused in sweet and tangy BBQ sauce. The tagline, “Passion for Pork” describes the reaction fans have after eating this tasty offering.
– Royal bacon blue fries are crispy French fries topped with creamy, crumbly blue cheese, crispy bacon, celery and green onions. They come in a serving for one, which is perfect because you won’t want to share.
Pork is perfect anytime, but especially at the ballpark.
